How long will it be before I get payments sent to
me once the wage assignment goes out?
-
The employer must deduct within 10 days of the
receipt of the wage assignment and send the money
to the State Disbursement office within 10 days
of the deduction date. The State Disbursement
Unit offers direct deposit services. They can be
contacted at 1(866)325-1010.
-
The wage assignment is paying weekly, but last
week I did not receive a check. I want to speak
to my Child Support Officer and have him/her
contact the employer.
-
This office works on a 30-day delinquency list.
Wait until the 1st of the following month to
ensure that you did not receive your full
support. If you have not, contact our office and
your Child Support Officer can assist you. This
office cannot enforce support on a week to week
basis.
-
I am no longer employed and previously had my
wages garnished. What do I need to do?
-
Submit your status in writing to your Child
Support Officer. Keep this office informed within
10 days of any change of circumstance in
employment. Continue to make payments as ordered.
-
I received notice that the absent parent is no
longer employed. What am I supposed to do?
-
That letter is just to inform you of the status
of your case. The system will monitor the case
for additional employment and legal action. You
will be sent a notice if the absent parent
becomes employed. Keep this office informed if
the absent parent tells you that he/she has
gained employment.
-
Why did I not receive the full amount of child
support this month when he is paying by wage
assignment?
-
Some employers deduct on a 26 or 52 week pay
schedule. Two months of the year, you will
receive the extra check that comes when there are
five weeks in a month. The employer may be
deducting 50% of the employee’s net
disposable income.
