Garnishee
-
The person upon whom a garnishment is served.

Garnishment
-
A legal proceeding whereby a portion of a
person's wages or other assets is withheld and
applied to payment of a debt.

Genetic Testing
-
DNA testing
that is used to conclusively prove the paternity
of a child; this may be a Buccal Swab Test,
involving the alleged father, the mother and the
child(ren).

Good Cause
-
A legal reason for which recipients of Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Foster
Care, Medicaid and certain Food Stamp are excused
from cooperating with the child support
enforcement process, such as past physical harm
by the child's putative father or non-custodial
parent.

Guardian
-
A person responsible for an under-age or
incompetent non-custodial parent.

Guidelines
-
A standard method for setting child support
obligations based on the income of the parent(s)
and other factors as determined by state law.
